150.00

France | Circa 1850

Antique Terra cotta "stovepipe" pitcher made in the French Alps. Japsé pottery to France is like the Red-ware pottery to the U.S. A craft pottery that it most identifiable by its glaze patterns; typically painted dots or swirls of multi colored glazes. This pitcher is a beautiful example of the pottery coming from the Savoie region of France.  It has small chips around the rim and base typical of wear to a 100+ year old functional pot, but has decades of life to it left and makes for a beautiful addition to any pottery collection.
