Antique Terra cotta "stovepipe" pitcher made in the French Alps. Japsé pottery to France is like the Red-ware pottery to the U.S. Jaspé is a craft pottery that it most identifiable by its glaze patterns; typically painted dots or swirls of multi colored glazes. This pitcher is a beautiful example of the pottery coming from the Savoie region of France.  It has small chips around the rim and pops of glaze revealing the lime in the clay. This is typical of wear to a 100+ year old functional pot, but has decades of life to it left and makes for a beautiful addition to any pottery collection.
