Botanical: Beta Vulgaris

35.00

FRANCE | 1876

Last winter, we stumbled upon an expansive 19th century collection of French botanical pressings. Each specimen is so thoughtfully displayed and mounted and hand inked in French with the Latin scientific names. Dated 1876, this Beta Vulgaris is also known as the common beet and part of the Chenopodiaceae family, which we just learned is a sub-family of the Amaranth family (Amaranthaceae), meaning that it is in the general "flowering plant" family.  A flowering plant with deliciously edible roots and leafs and an incredible dye-plant as well! This specimen is unframed and will arrive flat packed, but deserves framing for proper archiving and display.
