FRANCE | c 1880

Antique French linen smock with cotton collar. Medium/heavy weight linen that softens with every wash, dyed with natural indigo in Africa with rich results. These were originally worn by farmers and peasants, each embroidered with the initials of the wearer. This tunic has be worn and cared for well and will last for another 100 years with ease. Three buttons down the front with fine gathering and hand-stitching technique. This particular tunic features a beautiful underarm gusset for extra durability. We consider these tunics to be very free in size. Easy on and easy off, with the most tailoring and sizing being throughout the shoulders. 

Shoulder to shoulder measurement is 22" flat from seam to seam. Length of garment is 41". Shoulder seam to cuff is 20” making for a cropped sleeve on a taller person. Model is 5’5” and a size small.
